Favorite Summer Products | Cruelty Free

This summer, I have been loving all the fruity products that I can get my hands on! From all natural face masks, to cruelty free hair products, I have been so in love with all the new items I have been trying! I have heard so much about Korean skincare, and how revolutionary that it can be for your skin, so I did some research and found Frudia ! Frudia is a Korean skincare company whose products are filled with natural fruit juices and extracts, giving you the essential nutrients you need without all the chemicals! I picked up the Green Grape Pore Control Mask , at my local Ulta, and it is super hydrating while also tightening pores! I also met with the founder of  MopTop Hair  while at the Natural Food and Product Expo West this past year. She was so sweet and sent me home with a few samples and I was automatically obsessed with not only the delicious smell of the products, but the way it made my hair feel! The Mongongo Oil  smells amazing and hydr...

A Vegan Thanksgiving

This is my first  Thanksgiving as a vegan ! (It is also my boyfriend's first time too ;)) And, with that being said, I have done quite a bit of research to find the best and most delicious vegan alternatives on the market. I had been a vegetarian for about 10 years, and that meant I could eat all the sides that had dairy and eggs, so I never really felt like I would be missing out.  But now as a vegan, most everything is out of the picture!  --- None of my mother's infamous mac n'cheese, no green bean casserole, and definitely not any homemade apple pies. --- So what is a girl to do? I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of vegan options that I found in my local supermarket. Sprouts Farmers Market had a whole section for just vegan Thanksgiving items! To help you guys out, here are the best of the best!  *I found many of these items at Safeway, Whole Foods, and Sprouts Farmers Markets* Roasts Field Roast Celebration Roas...

PSA - A letter about health

I posted this on Facebook a few hours ago, but I figured I would put it out there for everyone to see. I see people all over social media claiming to promote healthy living whilst still consuming and purchasing animal products. Dead animals are not healthy. We need to change the way we think about all of the beautiful animals on this planet, they deserve to live just as much as we do!  The following is my own personal opinion, but I think that it is true for everyone. I have done countless hours of research for myself and I would never say anything that I didn't truly believe.  Enjoy :) People who promote healthy living and environmental causes while still consuming meat and animal products....... ‪#‎ judgingyou‬  Go vegan! It's better for the earth and for your body. I don't remember the last time I took over the counter medicine or had a cold, and I believe that is because I only consume food that is nutritious, and not full of fat and cholesterol, which most ani...

The Beauty of Gardening

My favorite part of spring is all the new vegetation! I get so excited every time I see a tiny flower sprouting along the side of a trail. One of my favorite ways to celebrate this season is to get out and garden.  I personally am always running around busy, but I made some time early this year to get out and garden. I took a gardening course at my college where we learned about native California plants, and that really sparked my interest. I planted a few natives around the garden and propagated some house plants for myself as a token!  Here is some of the Rainbow Chard I planted:  One of my favorite ways to get grounded is being in nature. When you're living amongst the plants it makes you feel more at home and serene, something you can't find in the streets of the city.  Being in California is such a blessing because we have so many beautiful plants and recreational areas that celebrate the natural beauty of this state.  If you want to get more involved with ...

Raw Fruits & Veggies

As I grow up and start to realize that my body is my most important tool, I have been looking for ways to better take care of myself. Both internally and externally. I feel that beauty comes from the inside---literally. I believe that your beauty reflects what you feed yourself. If you're eating unhealthy, processed, fatty foods, you're going to look and feel groggy, tired, and malnourished. If you want to feel alive and radiant, eat live and radiant fruits and veggies! One of the things I have been doing recently to incorporate more raw fruits and veggies into my diet is to make a smoothie in the morning. By making a smoothie in the morning, I am guaranteeing that my body digests all the nutrients from the fruit and gets sustainable energy from it. My favorite recipe is as follows: Morning Sunrise Smoothie 5-7 fresh strawberries (greens still on top) 5-7 frozen strawberries (depending on size) 1 banana 2 tbsp Hemp seeds 1tbsp Chia seeds 1/4cup coconut water 1/4...

Essential Oils for Stress Relief

Honestly, I stress out a lot. Like every day. About the littlest things. But, I am not a fan of anxiety medication because I believe "medication" should be natural, and I have a fear of dependency on drugs. So I discovered the next best thing: Essential Oils. Now, I know I am late to hop on the bandwagon, but really essential oils are useful for everything! I recently bought a Now brand diffuser from Whole Foods (~$20), and a few essential oils from Whole Foods and Target. I don't know the specifics of the diffuser, whether it is hot or cold diffusion, but with mine, even though it says warm water, I usually use cold to keep the nutrients that are naturally found in the oils. This diffuser lasts 4-6 hours (sometimes more), and I usually put it on when I am studying or trying to sleep to help relieve my stress. I created a few relaxation blends you can use if you need a little pick me up: Stress Be Gone: 10 drops lavender essential oil, 10 drops peppermint essen...
